Letter from the Secretary General
Dear delegates, faculty advisors, parents, and future diplomats,
It is a pleasure to invite you to the tenth edition of BSBMUN, which will take place on October 3-5 at the American School of Brasília. I am honored to serve as the Secretary-General for a conference that has, over the decade, been wholly devoted to the principles of collaboration, negotiation, and excellence.
Our team of diligent staff and organizers have been working tirelessly to ensure that delegates will be challenged to think critically over pertinent global conflicts, cooperate with peers they may not have met before, and discuss the innovative solutions we yearn to implement in today's climate.
As we convene to debate a plethora of pressing international issues, I want to emphasize that this conference is about so much more than winning awards—it is about working towards a consensus and fostering the public speaking and leadership skills that are vital for forming the next generation of world leaders.
Furthermore, with this year's theme calling upon a prerequisite for diplomatic discussion, equality, BSBMUN X emphasizes the importance of including diverse perspectives. Adlai Stevenson, who was a US Ambassador to the UN, once said, "The whole basis of the United Nations is the right of all nations—great or small—to have weight, to have a vote, to be attended to, to be a part of the twentieth century." Even as we enter a new era, rapid globalization depends on equity to ensure just and egalitarian measures for all.
Over the course of three days, you will debate historical disputes, humanitarian crises, and the emerging consequences to our planet's future—all while immersed in an environment of like-minded individuals who are just as passionate about Model UN as you are.

BSBMUN is the Model United Nations conference annually hosted by the American School of Brasilia. The conference presents an engaging way to high school students to debate global issues and develop skills such as public speaking and argumentation.
