"The Security Council has primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security. It has 15 Members, and each Member has one vote. Under the Charter of the United Nations, all Member States are obligated to comply with Council decisions.
The Security Council takes the lead in determining the existence of a threat to the peace or act of aggression. It calls upon the parties to a dispute to settle it by peaceful means and recommends methods of adjustment or terms of settlement. In some cases, the Security Council can resort to imposing sanctions or even authorize the use of force to maintain or restore international peace and security."

Meet the Chairs
João Fonseca
Hi, delegates! My name is João Pedro Fonseca, but you can call me just Fonseca. I am a senior at St. Nicholas School in São Paulo. I've been in love with MUN since Year 8; I started as a delegate when I was 13 and it is a great honor to be a chair at BSBMUN VI. I love these simulations, because they give a voice to the new generation, who will be great leaders of tomorrow, and need to be internationally minded. It is essential to be in contact with World problems from an early age so that we change the future for the better. I absolutely love São Paulo's nightlife and I am always discovering something new in the city. I live in Vila Madalena (a very lively neighborhood) and I always enjoy the graffiti of ‘Beco do Batman’ or stop by good restaurants nearby. But all that would be boring without friends, so they are always on those adventures with me. I also love football, playing guitar, and video games. If you guys have any doubts, concerns or just want to chat about football, send me an email at jfonseca@stnicholas.com.br or by any social network. Can't wait to see you all!

Daniel Cavalieros
Hey everyone! My name is Daniel Cavalieros and I'm a Sophomore at EAB. I am excited to be Co-Chair for the Security Council for the sixth edition of BSBMUN, especially speaking that this is my first official role as a chair. My interest for MUN came from me wanting to learn more about International Relations, but since then I've realized that MUN is so much more. It's helped me develop my public speaking skills, but more importantly, it has allowed me to meet people from all over the world. MUN is a perfect example of where practice makes perfect, so I'm looking forward to working with you all to better improve my skills as a chair, and to also improve your skills as a delegate, no matter how long you've been in MUN. Outside of debate, I enjoy playing and watching a variety of sports, spending time with friends and family, and cooking. If you have any questions about the committee or the topic at hand, feel free to contact me at eab202303432@eabdf.br or +55 (61) 98110-5997. See you in October!
